Solution Architect





Project description:

The Belgian Payroll & Rewards Product division focusses on products directly related to the payroll process. We imagine, create, evolve, maintain and support products for over 40000 external customers and 200 internal customers.
The BE Payroll & Rewards division provides payroll solutions for the Belgian market.
The client is the foremost market leader in this segment of the market, thanks to its carefully built reputation of innovative and quality products and services.
Our division has taken up the challenge to renew one of our standard products. We have chosen an agile path, delivering value as soon as possible, and capturing experience from early go-to-markets.


In the context of one of our ongoing large (+40 FTE) and strategic projects, your main task is to provide & evolve a sound solution architecture of products/functional areas, adhering to previously made choices and architecture standards and methods.
You develop the potential solutions, facilitate choosing the best fit by understanding functional and technical fit to and weighted valuation of the needs, and facilitate Squads in identifying technologies and preparing implementation.
You help the squads actively in implementing the solution architecture and enhance the agile engineering process and tools.
You participate in release preparation and planning to determine the necessary architectural improvements according to the architecture roadmap and current priorities in the Squads and adjacent backlogs​.
You ensure the product architectures As-Built conform to solution architecture​
You manage temporary solutions, deliberate deviations and technical debt at the division level​.
You conform to the standards and practices of architecture, and escalate potential deviations to domain architect(s)​.
You work closely with the teams & other solution architects, are a member of the program staff and the architecture right-hand to the program manager.

You must not :

Design detailed architectural solutions at the start – nor slide past critical, irreversible architecture decisions: balance and courage!​
Evade decision-making​
Introduce needless creativity or complexity​
Reject proposed solutions without offering alternatives nor affirm a single solution without further consideration

You have thorough knowledge of Domain Driven Design

You acquired sound communication skills in previous experience

You understand the balance to innovate while using legacy applications as an enabler
You have interest in HR- and/ or Payroll delivery or Services
You have a sound knowledge of English and Dutch
